Michael Carriere is an Associate Professor at the Milwaukee School of Engineering University, where he teaches courses on American history, public policy, political science, environmental studies, and urban design. He has written for such publications as the Journal of Planning History, the Journal of Urban History, Cultural History, Reviews in American History, Punk Planet, Pitchfork.com, and Salon.com. He is the author of the forthcoming book, The City Creative: The Rise of Urban Placemaking in Contemporary America (with David Schallliol, The University of Chicago Press). He holds a Ph.D. in American history from the University of Chicago.
Kelly Ottman teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Leadership and Organizational Behavior at MSOE University. She developed the Doing Business with China program, which partners with over 20 companies and has a signature servant-leadership project in rural China. Prior to MSOE, she taught for eight years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In 2005, she was awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award for Academic Staff. She also was on the design team for College of Professional Studies at Marquette University, as well as taught in the Executive MBA program.
