Dr. John Richard Hoskins is a retired (1975-2005) United States Air Force senior officer where he served as a Human Resource officer, a Special Operations Plans Officer, A Commander (twice), and Director of Professional Development for all Special Operations Joint personnel throughout the United States. He joined the Rocky Bayou Christian School (RBCS) in Niceville, Florida team in March 2006 as Director of Operations (2006-2017) and is currently is Director of Biblical Worldview where he teaches high school students philosophy, apologetics, literature, and servant-leadership. Dr. Hoskins has a BA in Philosophy, an MPA in Public Administration, an MA in Practical Theology, an MS in Military Science, and an Doctorate with emphasis on servant-leadership. He took his 30 years’ experience with the Air Force and the servant-leadership principles taught to him through the writings of Robert K. Greenleaf and the people he influenced/mentored and transformed RBCS into a servant-leadership culture between 2006-present. In 2018, the RBCS Superintendent was recognized by the local Chamber of Commerce as leading the top servant-leadership organization in our area. Due to Dr. Hoskins’ education and experience, he also is an adjunct professor for Northwest Florida State College Costa Leadership Institute where he teaches servant-leadership to various organizations such as Okaloosa County, Chelco Energy, City of Fort Walton Beach, Walton Country Health, Military Organizations, Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS), and local churches. Since 2014, Dr. Hoskins has been asked each year by FACCS to offer seminars on servant-leadership to the faculty and staff of Christian schools throughout Florida at their yearly Florida-wide conference. Dr. Hoskins is a professional educator both in Administration and Faculty and has taught at Michigan State University, Joint Special Operations University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Northwest Florida State College, and Rocky Bayou Christian School. He teaches and models servant-leadership to high school students, young adults, and adults who come from all walks of life and backgrounds. Dr. Hoskins is married. He has seven children and 11 grandchildren. His family has been raised using servant-leadership principles that are viable both the professional and personal realms of life. His passion has always been to serve first and then to lead. His leadership focuses on purpose, vision, and mission while meeting the needs of those he leads to fulfill their work. He uses Story to convey the servant-leadership message and stresses the need for healthy emotional intelligence coupled to compassion and empathy. He strongly believes in respecting the many different ideas people bring to the table and that people are not all clones of one another. He creates a safe environment that allows for transparency, integrity of thought, and seeks to understand before being understood.
