Héctor Colón

President and CEO, Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan

Héctor Colón is the President and CEO of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Under Mr. Colón’s leadership, LSS has taken a more visionary and innovative approach, adapting new models to stay relevant and applying business strategies to make LSS more operationally efficient. The organization had not met its budget for four consecutive years before the start of Mr. Colón’s tenure and is now operating with a budget surplus for 2019. He was named 2019 Nonprofit Executive of the Year by BizTimes Media in Milwaukee. He is also a member of Rotary Club of Milwaukee. Previously, Mr. Colón served as Executive Director of the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services for six years, where he led several county-wide initiatives, including efforts to reform the juvenile justice system, end chronic homelessness, transform mental health care, and end a 30-year waitlist for disabilities services. Mr. Colón was also an amateur boxing champion. As a member of the U.S. national boxing team, he won seven national titles and competed in the 1992 Olympic trials. He currently serves as an independent director on the board of USA Boxing. Mr. Colon holds both a B.S. and M.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
