David Behling

Coach – Improvement, Quality & Leadership

David A. Behling has a passion for helping individuals & teams enjoy their work and home lives more by simplifying processes and systems. He accomplishes this by teaching and coaching servant-leadership, daily problem solving and how to identify ways to provide better customer (internal & external) value.

He has been involved in the quality, continuous improvement and leadership fields for over 25 years and has extensive experience in both manufacturing and office processes from working in numerous industries including automotive, non-profit, aerospace, defense, service, insurance and associations. David’s expertise includes daily problem solving, process improvement, leadership coaching and mentoring, and project management with a focus on increasing employee engagement and customer value. David has valuable experience as both a practitioner and at the leadership level arising from his various roles at Goodrich Aerospace, Velvac, Inc. (automotive) and Goodwill Industries. He has been involved in various aspects of improvement and quality training and coaching from developing course materials, conducting classroom instruction, developing learning strategies, coaching other instructors, and serving as mentor to numerous improvement and quality leaders. He has created sustained cultural transformations of departments and organizations in diverse manufacturing (aerospace, automotive, metal processing) and service (non-profit, government, social services, insurance) industries.

David holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance, Investment and Banking and a Master of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt [LSSMBB] and has been certified by the Shingo Institute, the Association of Manufacturing Excellence (AME) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) at the Lean Bronze [LBC] level. He has also been certified by American Society of Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence [CMQ/OE]. He is currently teaching at the Corporate Business Training Center at Waukesha County Technical College and Wisconsin Lutheran College and is an Improvement, Leadership and Quality Coach and President of D A Behling & Associates in the Milwaukee, WI area.
